TOUCH RUGBY FESTIVAL THIS SUNDAY

As part of the Peterlee Show, there will be a touch festival on Sunday 5th September.  Teams from Gateshead Thunder, Peterlee Pumas, Newcastle Storm, Seaham, plus a special pumas coaches & parents select team as well as several junior/mixed teams.  Anyone individuals or teams wanting to get involved on the day please get in touch, it is six a side on a 30 by 50 pitch, mixed age and sex teams, if you dont have a team yourself come along and we will put you into a team for the day.  The meet is at 11, KO is 12pm, should finish by 1:30.

Through out the off season we will be holding six aside rugby, touch and tackle on Wednesday nights at the Helford Road NG3 pitch for anyone that would like to come along and join in and we will look to host and take part in some touch festivals through the winter, all welcome.

PUMAS YORKSHIRE TOUR 2010

Peterlee concluded their second weekend in Yorkshire with an excellent display against Dewsbury celtic.

 Dewsbury opened the scoring 6 0 from a scrum. Peterlee hit straight back from a scrum of their own through loose forward Alex Ruff, 6 4.  Danny Wilson missed out on try in the corner knocking on as he touched down Too many missed tackles up the middle let Dewsbury in again 10 4 to the home team.. Pumas hit out from their own line, drove the ball up to half way them shifted it wide to Danny Wilson who went in from half way and under the posts. Joe wyman kicked the goal to make it 10 10 . Pumas gave away a penalty near their own line and conceded another under the posts 16 10 after the conversion but Phil Shields ht right back under the sticks for the pumas after hooker Steven Molyneaux stole the ball on half and set up the score 16 all after Wyman's extras..  Danny Wilson opened the second half for the pumas with a try out wide on the right 16 20.  A good pumas attacking move ended up close to the home teams line and Dewsbury ran the ball back and scored to tie the score 20all another try from Dewsbury from the kick off made it 24 20 to dews bury straight from the kick off to the home team.  Danny Wilson got another try back in the right corner for Peterlee to make it 24-24 at full time. Mom winger Danny Wilson. The pumas players and spectators stopped back to watch the Dewsbury under 18s take on Shaw cross in their league game with Dewsbury running out comfortable winners in that game.

 

PUMAS NEXT GAME HOME TO WALLSEND AT U 13 AMD 15 IN NORTH EAST CUP 11TH SEPTEMBER KO 11 AM.

OUR LADY OF THE ROSERY PASS SKILLS AWARD
  

Year 6 Pupils from Peterlee School "Our Lady of the Rosary" recently passed Rugby League Skills awards.  Completing a 6 week course given by Peterlee Pumas the Pupils were put through their paces and came through with flying colours.  Mr Andrew Bainbridge said  " Class 1 have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and developed their skills and enthusiasm for the game. Our girls in particular have made outstanding progress. Thank you. Mr Bainbridge"  The Pumas and School have renewed a long standing school cub link and have strong links with other schools where they plan to deliver the skills award to also and the club hopes to set up more links with other primary schools in the coming school term.  Anyone wishing to take part in Rugby League activities should contact the Pumas on 0790 3731901 or visit or contact Helford Road Pavillion 0191 586 9957 where the Pumas are based.
